    KdF Enamel Keepsake

The MV Wilhelm Gustloff was a KdF cruise ship in 1938. It was requisitioned the following year as a hospital ship and troop transport. It was sunk in 1945 with the loss of some 9,000 souls. It remains the worst maritime loss of life ever.

This bracelet is enamel on cupro nickle alloy. US dime added for scale. The signal flag links spell out W-I-L-H-G-U-S-T-L-O-F-F.

Anything related to the "W.Gustloff" is very special IMO.... very nice.

I've seen "a couple" German signal flag bracelets in the past but never even though about "what the flags said" guess I should have....

A fine memento of a great tragedy in maritime history. Thank you for sharing it with us, Barry.

          Hi,

What an excellent item, never seen anything like this before; I wonder if other Kdf ships had bracelets made up with their names?
Items such as these would be totally passed over in a bric-a-brac shop these days!
Thank you very much for showing this item,

          Best wishes,

          John.
