Hi Mil, Eddie, Shaneos
Thanks for posting more photos, and Shaneos thanks for your comments.
Shaneos you are right, thanks to Mils photos we can see that both Mils lovely original awarded Trophy eagle and this miniature 'souvenir' piece (as you put it) share the same makers mark. Yes, not only the font is the same -(well observerved) but note that the M3 is higher than the /100 in the RZM labelling of both. This is exactly what we like to see with this maker and it is very obvious and great to see on both these eagles. I believe that Mil has simply missed the fact that this is a much smaller version of his standard size Nuremberg eagle. In fact there were 4 different sizes of this eagle available- The original KSE was the largest, and this one being the smallest- funnily enough, they all had consecutively smaller beaks (not relative to the size of the eagle) -this acccounts for Mils original comment that the beak is not sharp enough. Line the 4 sized eagles up together and this beak observation becomes obvious.
I previously posted a size comparison of some of these eagles- see this thread-

The important thing to note is that these 'souvenir' eagles or the small Nuremberg eagles were sold at Reich Party Days & Rally's and the like for the average supporter to put on his desk or mantel. They are always of zink base and plated bronze or silver and match this one exactly. The higher quality larger eagles were mounted on marble, often with engraved inscription plates and awarded for various events and were of a higher quality but neither were in any way "less original". Believe me, I have seen plenty of fake Nuremberg eagles over the years- more than you would believe- but this one is not one of them,
Best Regards,
Michael
