    Hi Mil, Eddie, Shaneos

Thanks for posting more photos, and Shaneos thanks for your comments.
Shaneos you are right, thanks to Mils photos we can see that both Mils lovely original awarded Trophy eagle and this miniature 'souvenir' piece (as you put it) share the same makers mark. Yes, not only the font is the same -(well observerved) but note that the M3 is higher than the /100 in the RZM labelling of both. This is exactly what we like to see with this maker and it is very obvious and great to see on both these eagles. I believe that Mil has simply missed the fact that this is a much smaller version of his standard size Nuremberg eagle. In fact there were 4 different sizes of this eagle available- The original KSE was the largest, and this one being the smallest- funnily enough, they all had consecutively smaller beaks (not relative to the size of the eagle) -this acccounts for Mils original comment that the beak is not sharp enough. Line the 4 sized eagles up together and this beak observation becomes obvious.
I previously posted a size comparison of some of these eagles- see this thread-

The important thing to note is that these 'souvenir' eagles or the small Nuremberg eagles were sold at Reich Party Days & Rally's and the like for the average supporter to put on his desk or mantel. They are always of zink base and plated bronze or silver and match this one exactly. The higher quality larger eagles were mounted on marble, often with engraved inscription plates and awarded for various events and were of a higher quality but neither were in any way "less original". Believe me, I have seen plenty of fake Nuremberg eagles over the years- more than you would believe- but this one is not one of them,

    Best Regards,
    Michael

      Hi Michael,

I stand corrected. Indeed the eagle posted is a miniature piece - the description on the original link says it is 5 inches tall including the marble base. If this piece was of the original size, I would have continued to persist in my doubts. As I quote from the original description: "THE ORNAMENT MEASURES 5 INCHES TALL INCLUDING MARBLE BASE. THE ACTUAL WIDTH OF THE EAGLES WINGS ARE 3 INCHES AT THEIR WIDEST". I had tried to defend my original comments by posting photos from my own collection (taking time to do so); but would now have to agree that based on the consistency of markings, and that this is a miniature; then the rest of the communities' opinions would identify this as a good piece.

But such is the fun of this forum, that we agree, we disagree; etc. and we add our justifications and show evidence. However, I really feel that this member "TxGauleiter" has time again and again made very personal attacks. This is not in good form of the forum and in fact flouting the forum rules. Most of you (the regulars) will notice that this member has done this for years but I have always stayed a distance. And very often a good discussion has strayed; similar to my other post on the hunt for a Coburg badge. Fortunately a moderator was kind enough to clean this up.

The forum is a place of lively discussions and not a place for personal attacks.

      Mil

another example of your "opinion" being overturned...

Pointing out that your opinions are consistently wrong, this does not constitute a "personal attack"... By your own admission you were not correct.

People come to this site to seek the opinions of experts, which you are not. Your poor opinions and lack of knowledge could cost people money. This is not your intent obviously, but it is a possibility nonetheless. It is vital for the health of the community that we feel safe when we ask the experts for the opinions, especially when making purchase decisions that involve, in some cases, thousands of dollars..

I have not made "personal attacks". What I do do is advise people who may not be familiar with your questionable track record that you are not in any way an expert, despite the image your try to cultivate with your high post count.

It is precisely this diligence that makes me one of the biggest friends of this community.
