      Hi Maurice,

It looks like an original period piece to me; I particularly like the sharp details. Cheers,

Wood appears to be replacement, where is the mount?.

Thanks I wasn't sure I've never had one before. What would this be valued at any ideas.

          Thanks

                Hitler Profile Plaque.

It looks either refinished with the wood background added later with a nefarious looking ink stamp. Or similar to other Eastern Europeon reproductions that are flooding the dishonest E-Auction sites such as Pioneer, etc. Reminds me of other Repros that have the same stain color wood and w/o a wall hanger.

another point is ,profiles of that size should /could have makers marks -artist signed located at bottom of neck ...-any markings ... EC

This has to be attached to the wood in some manner. If you can get it off the wood see if there's any marking on the back.

In looking at this piece again, I realize that I did not consider the wooden mounting board; my initial response was focused upon the silhouette only. Pieces such as this usually took the form of an award or a memorial for some event of occasion, and there is really no space provided on the mounting board for an award plaque...though we can't see the entire piece including the bottom of the board. Also, the image -- which I assume is extruded metal of some sort? -- appears to be in excellent condition for a piece that is at least 70 years old; no scratches, dents or other flaws that life provides for most things that old. Perhaps I initially spoke too soon...though the fine detail of the image is quite attractive.
