Actually, the box does look like an original LDO piece, though not for this type of badge. The badge resembles similar pieces George Lincoln Rockwell had made for the American Nazi Party here in the USA back in the 1960s. Just some thoughts.

Claude:

These are original badges. They are called "Sympathie-Abzeichen." These "sympathy" badges were supposedly issued during the 20's during periods when the Party was banned. Just a swastika, but a modified NSDAP badge none the less without the lettering. Obviously to show your "symphathie" to the "cause", without the wearer violating the ban.

Since the LDO did not exist until 1940, the boxes cannot be original to the badges.

These are listed at page 83, in Andre Husken's Katalog published in 2010. They go for $125+. These badges are fairly rare. They are undervalued in my opinion.

Agree--plus these badges could be worn by a sympathizer who was not actually a member of the party.
