25 year NSDAP gold cross examination

Here is a 25 year cross from Winkler's site that appears to be a genuine pre 1945 Souval version with the characteristic die flaw on the eagle's wing and discussed here http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...sdap+25&page=2 in post 30. Of interest is the reverse of this cross. The center disk seems to skew toward the right with the "f" of für almost touching the wreath. If you notice there is a small chip to the enamel on the reverse at the 5:30 level. When viewed from the side, the gold wreath seems flush on the right side but seems to have a gap on the left side as shown in the scans. Might this be due to either a bad assembly, which might have actually caused the chip seen in the center disk, or a poor repair? Other stats - weight without ribbon 43 gm, cross diameter 42 mm.

Here are pics of the side where the wreath is no longer flush with the medal and a gap can be seen. It almost looks as there is some type of adhesive that can be seen in the second scan that appears glossy. Alll opinions welcome.

      Hi Richard,
Yes, the cross you show is certainly in pretty ordinary condition and could easily have been repaired. Can you post the pics of Kai Winklers other 25 Year NSDAP cross currently on his website to compare?
      Regards, Michael

Here are shots of Winkler's other cross. It also has the die flaw but the enamel has more damage.

Hi Richard. Can you post the pics of Kai Winklers other 25 Year NSDAP cross currently on his website to compare - the one without the enamel damage. https://www.history-shop.de/katalog/...D_90007_e.html

Michael, I'll try to get some images posted when I get home tonight. Interestingly enough I cannot find the two I have currently posted from his website so I assume they are both sold. I didn't even know about the other one, which is now a third he has offered, until you had posted the link.

Sorry, but I would not want this one.

Are you speaking of the second cross with the more extensive enamel damage and is it due to the amount of damage or are there other issues you see? I did notice the lettering on the reverse of the second cross is thicker and less distinct than other known originals I have seen.

I can't get the pictures transferred to this thread so the link will have to do.

Overall worse details. Enamel is even covering the back of the eagle's head.
