1927 NSDAP Mitgliedsbuch w/Schwarz signature - expelled?

Here's an interesting one I just picked up, there are no other entries or stamps in the book, just what is shown on the 2 pages. Looks like an actual Schwarz signature, and the low number means he could have worn the GPB. But why the crossouts? Was he expelled, did he quit, or die? Would appreciate your comments, thanks.

Good question but either dead or expelled it's more than likely his party number would have gone to another.

Anyone have the number in their records?

An interesting item, Fred; many thanks for sharing it with us! As the displayed pages confirm, this NSDAP Membership number was issued as part of the large group assigned on July 1, 1928, though the book was not approved until March of 1930, which was standard procedure. This number was not on my list of GPB awards. I would tend to agree with Jon that Herr Oddo Freiberg died fairly soon after his Party Book was issued to him, otherwise he would have had dues stamps and perhaps other notations included. Since he was only 23 years old when he joined the NSDAP, he may well have ended his life as an SA-Mann in a street riot. In that case, and considering that the GPB was not instituted until October of 1933, it seems certain that he never even knew that he would have been entitled to receive such high recognition for his early service during the Time of Struggle.

One further observation: since the NSDAP Member to whom this book was issued did not sign it, I would guess that he died at the same time the book was received from the Treasurer's Office in Munich by the local Kreis Office in Mühlhausen, Thüringen. The book was probably never in his possession.

I agree with Br. James. He is not on the list of Gauadler awardees, either.

Interesting piece. I think another clue on his potential demise it the virtually mint condition of this book. Most of these early books were carried with pride and usually exhibit much more wear.
