    HJ cap

    Hello everybody,

I've bought this cap around 10/11 years ago when I just started collecting WW2 items.
Back then I didn't bother to read any books, didn't ask the opinion from more experienced collectors and didn't do any research on the internet.
So when I got the chance to buy this HJ cap for only €30 on a flea market I didn't hesitate.
When time passed I learned more about prices, compared it with different HJ caps and got convinced it's a reproduction.

Could anyone confirm my thoughts about this cap?

It's a combination of a Civil cap with a RBN number what normally ( if it was a real HJ cap ) a RZM label should have. So I say no.

I'm certainly no expert on the subject of HJ wintermutze but every specimen I've seen thus far incorporates either buttons or a buckle to retain the side flaps when not in use.

Well, I had a cap before with both ends sewn together.

Take a look at the right top corner with the gold button.

                    But this cap isn't good.

That is a very impressive collection you have amassed Kurt, very nice indeed.

Hats off to you Kurt Meyer.
