    Attic find DAF table medal

A member of the family has recently passed away and this item was found amongst his possessions in the attic. It was passed to me to investigate for the family due to my interest, however, table medals are not my area of expertise (not that I am in any other area either ). As far as I can ascertain:-

    It is a table medal
It was for a sports meeting
It was connected to the DAF
It was for the town/area noted on the back of the medal

All opinions welcomed especially if you can let me know what year this was issued. Also any idea of value as I've been asked to sell it for the family.

    Regards

    Paul

Just google translated the dedication on the medal

" for preservation in the power struggle of the German plants conferred by the daf gau Schleswig Holstein "

So not a sports award - possibly issued for a high DAF leader/manager of an industrial plant by the NSDAP in Scheswig Holstein?

I bought one of these in 1967 for £2 and sold it a couple of years later. I do see them from time to time on auction sites and they tend to sell for around €200.

Hi Stan and thanks for the input, been told it would sell for around £100 - £150 but really want to keep it in the family (my DAF family ) so hopefully it will be left with me for safe keeping

Nice plaque, I have one just like it in its original case.

                Howdy,

great find! Do you know more about the vet who brought it back? He might have been stationed in Schleswig-Holstein; I would be interested in which area.

                Thanks,

                Kimb.

A simply stunning table medallion, Paul! Does it have a maker's mark, designer's mark or metal content (if silver) anywhere?

...and Giel's cased example is even a greater knockout!
