    Order of the German eagle in Gold with Diamonds.

    Hi guys, how are you? After a long time of research, I finally found a photo of this rare Order, award only once to Benito Mussolini on September 25th, 1937. The photo comes from the book "Il viaggio del Duce in Germania" (produced by the Istituto Nazionale Luce) and contains many pictures from Mussolini's journey to Berlin in 1937.

    For me, it was the first time I've ever seen this photo. Hope you like it

      After the war

      Did this award surface after the war or has been lost to the winds of time?

        That's a real mystery, Matt! I've been trying to find out about the current whereabouts, but.. no luck. On one hand it could have been taken by his wife Rachele, or "liberated" by US troops in Italy.

        How knows...

                Only add to the previously posted picture by me, belongs to the great Original cross of Mussolini, it is not a copy, it is a photo of the real Gold Great Cross of the German Eagle Order with Diamonds

                Order rests in the display cabinets from a Museum in Milan (Italy)

                  FYI, the Italian book mentioned by Sepp in the first post was reproduced and translated in 1970 as "The Hitler Albums" by James Bender + David Fasold with some additional material included.

                      So Hitler gave El Duce one of the most elaborate awards made during that period, something that could be seen sparkling for miles, something that was (apparently) made by the best tradesmen and could be a highlight of any museum- then or now- and in return he got an armband and a shi%ty knife?
                      How pissed off he must've been flying back to Germany after that deal?
