    NSKK Overseas Cap Eagles

Hello all, I would like to share my collection of NSKK Overseas Cap Eagles.
These are the colors that I currently have and of course I am always looking for more. I will soon be sharing some good close ups showing the differences in the construction of these. The reds in this photo look more similar than they really are. Post yours for view.
    Thanks
    Sal R.

Nice collection Sal. Like Erich said, takes awhile to get all the colors.

          Happy New Years,
Fiqured I would start talking about the NSKK overseas field cap triangles.
I have been collecting these for some time and with a little luck during this discussion someone might be able to help me in getting a color or two I don't have (Check out the ones I already have in this thread).

First off I have here a close up showing the differences between the aluminum stitched version and the silky thread version.
Some tend to think that the aluminum versions were worn by higher ranking personnel, but as of now I have not found any evidence of this.

Apple Green = Motor Brigade / Motorgruppe - Pommern (Ostsee)
Apple Green = Motor Brigade / Motorgruppe - Thuringen

          Orange-Yellow = Motor Brigade - Mitte
          Orange-Yellow = Motor Brigade / Motorgruppe - Sudwest

          More to come
          Sal R.

Now we have a close-up of the rear of these same two triangles, showing the differences between the aluminum and silky version.

As there are different makers of these cap triangles these two would seem to be made by the same manufacturer.

Another difference found would be in the form of the eagles head.

As you can see some of these birds have a very distinctive point to the rear of the eagles head, while others tend to be rounded. This is most likely a difference in manufacturers.

Cornflower Blue = Motorgruppe - Warthe

              Mouse-grey = Motorgruppe - Sudentenland
Renamed to Motor Brigade / Motorgruppe - Egerland

Now onto a very big difference and that would be between manufacturing materials.
I will show here a few photos of two dark brown triangles made using distictively different materials.

                * The first difference is in the black backing material itself. One is made of a shiney, tightly woven synthetic material, while the other is made from a dull, looser woven material which seems to be made from cotton.

                * The next difference is in the threading used to create the insignia itself. One is created using a soft, silky thread, while the other is created by using a cotton thread.

Dark Brown = Motor Brigade / Motorgruppe - Westmark
                Later named Motorgruppe - Rhein-Mosel

Dark Brown = Motor Brigade - Niedersachsen

Here are photos of the front of the two for general comparison.

Notice the differences in the way the eagles head looks as I had discussed earlier.

With most all N.S.K.K. overseas cap triangles, the trapezoid is machine embroidered with its top reaching all the way against the chain stitched edging of the black backing material, while the bottom point ends up just short of the backings edge by about 1/16 of an inch. Yet in two cases I have encountered the trapezoid being centerd upon the black backing, and in both cases these backing measure wider than all the other examples.

Most N.S.K.K. cap triangles are upon a black backing measuring 1-7/8" wide on average.

While in this dark blue example it is centered on a backing measuring 2-1/4" in width.

Navy Blue = Motor Brigade - Hansa
Motor Brigade / Motorgruppe - Hessen
                      Motor Brigade - Kurhessen
                      Motor Brigade - Frankfurt-Darmstadt

Vermilion = Motorgruppen - Ostland and Schlesien

                        Insignia

WOW!! Great job and photography!! I'm doing basically the same thing with SA collar tabs, and I'm missing only one Gruppe color (Red-brown).
Sal - Are the Gruppe colors in the NSKK identical to the SA?

                          Very cool Sal!!
I also notice that on the 2 you have that are more centered have less bold NSKK stitching then the others.

I am also working on the same thing with the SA Overseas Cap Eagles.
I still have much to find but it seams the NSKK shared the same colors for the same districts as the SA. It seam the NSKK might have a few extra shades then the SA as far as I can see.

sgstandard I would love to see your collar tabs.

Up for comparison are two crimson N.S.K.K. trapezoids of different manufacturing styles.

Crimson = Korpsfuhrung - Used by personell serving within the Reichs Leaders and Technical Leaders Schools

As you will be able to tell the one on the bottom is constructed to what I would consider as the standard method of construction, meaning that amoung all that I have encountered most are made within this fashion.

The one above however is constructed quite differently. For one the red silky thread is made from a much shinier material. Along with that the trapezoid is about 1/4" longer across it's top yet it's hieght is the same as the other.
