This guy's wearing a Blood Order, right?

    Hi guys,

First time I have ventured into this part of the forum, so please excuse what will probably seem to be a stupid question.

I'm just clearing out some photos and came across the attached. This guy is wearing a Blood Order medal, isn't he? If not, what is it? And does anybody know what the other medal is?

    Thanks in advance.
    Jason

    Hello Jason,

you are right, it´s a Blood order he´s wearing. The other medal is difficult but I think it may be a small ribbon bar with the ribbon of the 1914 EK II and a tinnie next to it.

    Very nice pic!

    Best Regards

The badge on his opposite pocket (below the EK ribbon) is a May day badge.
Nice photo, by the way! You really don't find many BO recipients in private photos (unless they were taken at the 9. November remembrance events, of course).

          Hi Jason,

Welcome to this part of the forum! As to your questions, I think Max has nailed them both, and with Erich's eagle-eyed additional comment, we now know what the event was! All three faces look vaguely familiar to me; I wonder whether the man in the center could be a Deputy Gauleiter? And could the person on the left be Martin Bormann? It kinda looks like him in profile, and he may be wearing an SS cap. Just some thoughts!

I'm probably being a bit thick but what was the event?

Here's an overall scan of the pic. Size is 80 x 55mm. No writing on the back.

Erich identified the badge and ribbon as a May Day pin and James is presuming it is a May Day event. The double chin and profile doesn't strike me a Bormann. And with the odd belt on the overcoat on the left, is the fellow German? Don't know why one would need binoculars at a May Day event. That is what is around the neck of the man on the left.

Mr Wotka it's a camera, you can see the lens cover leaning open on his stomach.

Looks like the guy on the left is wearing a driver's leather or rubberized jacket, guy on the right is wearing a civilian style raglan sleeved overcoat or raincoat.

That's exactly what I was presuming, Joe, based upon Erich B's earlier note (and his eagle-eyesight). And I could certainly be wrong about it being Martin Bormann, though we very seldom see him looking down at quite that angle, which would tend to accentuate his double chin. Just sayin'...
