Great information, Chris! And Obersalzberg and I immediately thought of Wagner's Villa Wahnfried in Bayreuth...! The word on your paperwork probably refers to a style/size of glassware that the manufacturer sold. Who knows; perhaps "Wahnfried" was a glassware style or pattern that was originally created for Richard Wagner's household -- which would make great sense for Hitler to be ordering it in quantity for one or more of his residences!

Yes, I think you're right there. The height of the glasses in my paperwork is also substantially below the ones shows above [from CG, which are many inches tall, from memory].

@Robs - it would be interesting to get the story on where these examples of Craig's turned up. Can you tell us?

Hi Chris, these exmaples were acquired from a 101st Airborne veteran in the 1970s, directly from the Berghof.

I saw he had another pair of glasses, not as prertty as these, which sold at his last auction (for $1500US or thereabouts). Cheap I thought for what they are. My guess is that the fragility and relative obscurity makes it less collectible than the silverware. They are picture 1.

Picture 2 is another set of wine glasses he still has for sale (Craig). They look fantastic.

I came across this link also.

I have no comment on the glass shown here, but thought it might be useful to build this thread up for future use/cross-reference etc:

                Sold for $1835.

This piece of stemware which stands at 7 inches tall is part of a collector-renowned group of stemware and crystal that was liberated from the Berghof and sold into the collector market many years ago. It was sold into three groups, and about 6 years ago. Present is the AH monnogram that is colored in gold.
