    NSB Dutch Collaboration Items

Showing here a couple of recent acquisitions - items from the Dutch Nationaal-Socialistische Beweging (N.S.B.) founded in 1931 by Anton Mussert:

    1. Flag with the Party badge (double-sided) in the centre; and

    2. Commemorative medal of the first NSB "Kerstmarsch" in 1933, as distributed to those who participated.

There seems to be interest, so I am showing here the other items in this category which I have in my collection.

          1. Mussert Medal, cased with ribbon bar;

          2. Motor WA Loyalty Badge for Dutch NSKK Volunteers (extremely rare) - as I had earlier posted (#18) in this thread: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=278169

          3. NSB Jeugdstorm ("Boy Stormers" / Youth Section of the NSB) belt buckle for NCO ranks, however, in this case the silver-plating indicates for a senior NCO or parade quality;

          4. Dutch Nazi Party Badge of the W.A. ("Weer Afdeelingen" / Defense Section) Storm Troopers of the NSB. As this example has gold wire, it would have been worn by the highest officers of the W.A. on the left upper arm.

I hope that you enjoy seeing these hard-to-find items.

          John

All of the items shown above were posted here in the firm belief that they are genuine, period items. Perhaps I have laboured under a misconception for these past years. I am prepared to admit not being an expert when it comes to this genre of articles, so would appreciate opinions from those more intimately familiar and experienced regarding the items shown here, in particular item #4 - the Dutch Nazi Party Badge of the W.A. - which I have now been told is a copy.

Here are a couple of close-ups of the badge in question.

Thanks for your comments, Nick. Please note, however, that - as far as I am concerned - the jury is still out regarding whether or not the sleeve badge is a copy. While it may not conform to some known standard versions, I feel that it still stands a chance at being a legitimate, period original and could very well be a private purchase item.

I would like to hear opinions regarding this badge and also see some examples for comparison before a final verdict is reached....or hear some detailed explanation as to the basis for it possibly being a copy. Too often variant or not well-known/differing examples get labelled as copies when they are, in fact, not copies.

Until that is made clear for all to see, I maintain that this is the real thing. It came out of the woodwork here in my area where there are a lot of Dutch immigrant families living, as well as many Canadian veterans who were involved in the liberation of Holland.

                  Dear John,

All items are good, Sleeve badge is private purchase.

These day's we are hanging on to much on "textbook" items..

                  Kind Regards,
                  Ron

                    Agree, all original items!
WA sleeve badge is of period materials and construction, a nice scarcer variation!

Is it? Then why is the wolf hook exactly the same as on known fake ones? Why is the gold "ribbed" thread the same as on known fake triangles? Why a backing paper? Why such different black and red cloth? And why...fill in another number of points of concern...

The thing with triangles is that a lot has been faked from the 1980s on until current days, some in the original style. When i see shields with a different setup i get suspicious. Have variations and special shields been made? Yes fur sure and i know of some that no one would even believe if it weren't for accompanying wartime paperwork from manufacturers.

Now back to this one, why do the last two posters like this one in particular so much? I agree not everything has to be textbook, especially not if it comes to NSB cloth, but if an item like this is called good it would be nice to see some proof. Just saying "it's original" or it's a "private purchase" doesn't convince me yet, nor is it very helpfull for Jwburchell. Im very sceptic about this one, but also don't write it off yet, some better proof as posted above here would be needed first.

                      regards,
                      Gaston

ps: i hate to be that guy who makes this argument, but many vets gathered fake items over time by trading with others vets or from whatever source. If an item comes out of the woodwork it should not be regarded as such, but be valued on what it actually is and how it looks.

I am grateful for the feedback received. Thank you gentlemen.

As this appears to not yet be a write-off and therefore still has a fighting chance, I am hoping for additional detailed comments - pro or con - from those with experience in this area, please.

                        Thanks,

                        John

Hi John, Badge of the W.A. , in my opinion not good.
But I would have been reported.
                          It's what Caston told
                          Regards, Jan

The badge shown is phrased wrong. The name for this was:
                              NSKK-Motor-WA-Trouw-Eereteken
It is given various different names by collectors, but it is as above!

It is shown in wear on page 115 from volume 5 from "Headgear of Hitler's Germany".
