          Hi William,

These dates commemorate the appointment and swearing-in of Hitler as Chancellor by President von Hindenburg on January 30, 1933, and the national Reichstag election held on March 5th of that year in which Hitler hoped to gain an absolute majority of the electorate...which the NSDAP failed to receive, garnering only about 45%. But this percentage did establish the NSDAP as the largest political party in Germany. This failure limited Hitler's government's legislative latitude, but on March 23rd the Reichstag passed the Enabling Act which granted Hitler's government the ability to pass laws without a parliamentary vote. Hope this is helpful.
