Set of dies for SA figures

    Hello everyone,

I wanted to share some pictures of a die set for SA figures which we have found lately.
It is for 3 SA men. One seems to hold a torch, one a flag and one is marching.

I suppose these are not for Elastolin, Lineol etc.. but rather for metal figures?

    Thanks!
    Klaus

          Hello Klaus:
Nice 3 toy SA soldier mold. IMO the torch holding guy more
likely has a metal flow sprue channel to feed raised AH salute arm -
a pass-in-review officer as he appears to be standing, not marching.

These dies could be part of a home casting set--the metal was a lead pewter so could be liquified at a relatively low temperature. Since the figures could be purchased at a toy store for very little money, it was more for the fun of making your own army (or paramilitary force!) that the home sets were sold. They were also popular in the US and the UK during the same period.

              Thanks for your posts!

Erich, you could be right. Children still do it today but it was popular decades ago.
