The most mint HJ Leader Sports badge!

The most mint HJ Leader Sports badge!
Went to the Bank today and took out this stone mint HJ Leader Sports Badge to show you all. This is the most mint HJ Leader Sports badge that I have ever seen. This one is like they made it in the factory. If you take a close look it still has the high polished gold finish and the matt finish in between. I have seen many of these but never in this condition. Any and all comments are welcome. JME

You're right, Jurgen: it is indeed perfect, right out of the shop window! Someone clearly loved this badge as much as you (and I) do to have kept it in such pristine condition for all of these decades! The HJ Leader Sport Badge is one of my true favorites; I especially love the lapis blue highlighting, as well as the polished giltwork. As I understand it, the badges marked with a "B" were made as private-purchase pieces while the numbered badges were made for award presentation. The badges are identical other than the presence of the award control number or the letter "B." My example is one of the real highlights of my collection, but it isn't quite as minty as your piece is. Treat it well and keep it safe for posterity, my firiend; you have a real treasure there!

Very nice albeit I believe the pictures fail to capture the warm yellow colour tone the badge has in reality. Am I right?

            Regards, Wim

the only shame with this badge is that its a B badge and not a nice numbered version

                    still a beauty

Very nice gilt left on a well preserved piece. Your bank does a good job of keeping it hermetically sealed as their is no environmental damage seen.

Thank you all for your comments. I would agree that the badge looks even better in hand. I used to not have these kind of badges so I would never understand the color contract in mint badges when older collectors would talk about them. This one has the color tone difference and looks like it just came out of the factory. I paid a lot for it and did not hesitate when I purchased the badge (if you snooze you lose). I agree with Stuart about the B version (You can't always get what you want but if you try sometime you get what you need). Thank you all again for your comments! I am glad you all like as much as I do! Jürgen

                          Hi Jurgen,

As I said in my original note and do agree with Stuart, one would wish that your "B" version actually included an issue number -- to which you responded with the timeless words of Mick Jagger! -- my sense is that your example was "liberated" from an RZM shop and had never been in the possession of anyone who would have worn it. Had this been an issued example with a number on the reverse, I would venture to say that it would probably not be in as pristine a condition as it is today. Many thanks again for sharing it with us!
