    Hitler Plaque

    Hi Everyone,

Can I ask some opinions on the plaque below please? It's cast iron and quite a size, and weight too. Measures 335mm x 240mm. No maker marks and typical hanging lug cast-in to the reverse.

I bought it some years ago from a well known and respected dealer in Germany who told me it had come from a metal works in his area. At the time, I think he even told me the name but I can't remember it.

Anyway, I would appreciate some second opinions please. As you'll see, whilst it is a reasonable depiction of AH, the quality at a close level, isn't the best. For example stickpin detailing. However, I am not particularly experienced with these larger plaques. I simply know they have been faked. No surprises there!

    Thanks for looking.

    Toby.

      Nobody knows then?

Or should I ask a dentist? Apparently, they are very good with plaque. B-Boom!

            cast

It does look a lot like a cast iron made version. A lot were made of zinc and pot metal and which I have a couple of.

Thanks for your reply. Metal is I believe, cast iron.

yes it does, but does that make it original...? I like and collect plaques as well but would not are to buy one like this, simply because so many fakes are made of this material and look like this quality...

It may be more a question of "believing" and "being happy" with it here.

                  Thank you Jabnus.

So now, we have two replies for, and one against.

I should add Klaus Butschek to the list of fors, since he's the person who originally sold it to me and assured me of its provenance. Not that his having sold it makes it genuine.

Any one else care to venture an opinion?

I think it looks fine. I've seen a lot of fakes, but I haven't seen this particular model reproduced.
