The construction and materials look good to me, but it sure is bright... perhaps it's just the photography. No matter how well something was stored, I would expect to see some sign of age. I haven't seen any of the better quality reproductions to know if they are this good. Wish I could be more decisive, but I'm undecided right now.

The RZM tag has a 'D' on it, I might be wrong but I thought the 'D' was for uniforms and armbands would have a 'B' on them. I am sure someone else will comment.

              B - Cotton

              D - Serivce Dress/Uniforms

Guess it could concivably, go either way

                Hi Steve

It is fairly bright. The construction and materials seem identical to my SS armband http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...448#post541448 the SS band is darker/dirtier overall inc. the roundel. Maybe this party band has been well stored.

                Cheers

                  Weedy,

No expert on these, but the material on yours appears to be wool by my judgment of the PICS. I guess that would make sense if the "D" stands for service/dress uniforms as you would expect higher quality materials used for these more "dressy" uniforms. Sure looks nice IMO.

Here's one of mine-cotton and the letter "B".

                      It looks okay to me.
The 'D' and 'B' don't have anything to do with uniforms or insignia--they're a fee indicator based on the amount of time/material and complexity of constructing the item.

                        I don't like Weedy's or Tim's.

Weedy's: the swastika and the roundel are mishappen. And that white is just too bright. The "D" code was for higher level armbands with more embroidery.

Tim's: I don't think those are the correct materials for the roundel or the swastika.

Well, I admit that I'm not a cloth man, but am willing to learn a little here. Seems to be some disagreement on exactly what the RZM "B" and "D" letters stand for though.

Hi Curt; not sure what your knowledge base is here, but would like to see some examples you have and please point out the differences in materials so I can see your point and increase my knowledge. I got mine off the e-stand from another member and have shown this armband here before and nobody commented negatively on it back then. I guess those points in and of themselves really don't mean anything though.

Here's another PIC, a bit closer and you can see the material better.

It's hard to tell for sure without an in hand examination, but both look fine to me. The circle on a cotton armband is different than that of a wool band--they didn't use the ribbed fabric on cotton armbands. The color, workmanship, and materials look fine in these scans. I've got perhaps 25 armbands on different SA tunics and these pictured are very typical.

That pic looks a lot better. From the first, shiny pic, I thought it was ribbed fabric that was even at the wrong angle. This pic looks good.

Erich is correct about the "B" vs. "D". Those are fee codes that go up with the level of detail and complexity of the item. "B" is correct for a regular, multi-piece party band. Although, I'm sure it is possible that some "D" code tags were used for whatever reason.

From Weedy's other post (SS armband), I'm afraid he has gotten ahold of some very scary repros. I would like to see them in person.
