Long service NSDAP medals

Hello Magnusmilitaria,
The 25 year NSDAP medal you show is absolutely authentic and a nice example.
Bill Shea recently had one in the same condition and currently Kai Winkler has one in not as nice condition. The Post-War Souvals did NOT have the left wing die-flaw but were struck with a different die for the centre eagle & wreath. My concern is the 15 Year NSDAP -enamel is not translucent - but could be the Photo.
Cheers,
Shaneos

Hello Joe & Magnusmilitaria,
Shaneos is right, and Joe you are also right- the 19 marked has different lettering to this one- as it should be - the 19 marked and this one are the only 25 year NSDAP long service medals accepted as genuine.
I have been looking into these for years and I believe that it is a genuine pre- end of war Souval- but better photos would be needed to prove this beyond doubt. The post-war Souvals have a very distinctively different wing shape with more curve and also have no speckles in the enamel- and none of the post-war Souval versions I have seen had the die flaw in the left wing. This one is identical to the example from the Dodkins collection sourced in the early '50s and is also identical to the Bill Shea one that had a provenance. Kai Winkler has sold a few the same as this one also. As for the condition, a few have turned up looking like this as the Souval model (Unlike the 19 Ring Stamped earlier version) was awarded up to so late in 1944 that some were never worn. I have to say that I have more of an issue with the 15 year version shown although clearly the 25 Year medal has a non-genuine ribbon. As for the quality lacking, this is normal for these pre-war Souval crosses, they are surprisingly poorly made for such an award. I post examples deemed authentic the same as this one.
Best Regards,
