I believe the implication of the main phrase is "Freedom through (working) the soil".

Kent may be right. Though translation is surely not my long suit, I wonder what election year this card/poster is from? If it is from the 1932 or earlier regional elections (it is marked from Gau München-Oberbayern), then Kent's translation of "Freedom through (working) the soil" makes complete sense since that reflects an anticipation of National Socialist take-over of the Weimar Republic -- 'freedom' -- yet to come. But if this card is from a local or regional election in Bavaria in the late 1930s, well after Hitler's ascendency to the chancellorship of Germany, then this could be a reference to the promised lebensraum for German farmers in the East, in Poland, and then a translation of "Toward available soil, through Hitler (first list of candidates)" might be more plausible. Again, my German is horrible, but my computer tells me that this is also a possible translation. As for the card itself, IMO it has a more developed style to it than earlier propaganda motifs, and the swastika is certainly from after 1933 since it is so precise and proportional...early swastikas were a free-for-all of style, but standardization brought with it a general uniformity. Hope these thoughts are helpful.

fascinating insights Br James, and so thoroughly thought out! thanks to both you and Kent

that the Nazi's found nobility and respect in the toil of the earth and sought to make it so respectable is a virtue, in my opinion, worthy of revisiting..

this image really speaks to me personally..

The poster was printed in München in the NSDAP Gau München print shop.

The artist who made the design was "Dreiller"

It was printed for the elections (Reichtagswahlen) 3 March 1933

The publisher was Wagner (MdL - member of the Landtag)

            To free soil with Hitler.

The election was held March 5.

Shortly after, Hitler laid the "und Ihr Habt Doch Gesiegt" wreath at the Feldherrnhalle.

these insights make the image all the more engrossing for me...

3rd Reich Propaganda is still gripping and moving, more than 80 years later...
I would say, unrivaled.. I could stare at this stuff the way art aficionados might gaze at a Picasso...

              exceptional contributions by all...
