The obverse of this Reichsbahn Carriage Eagle appears to be sharply struck (of aluminum?) and beautifully finished, while the reverse is as one would expect it to be. MY one concern is for the section of raised letters shown in two of your pix; I'm not sure what they are supposed to represent, but it serves no purpose for anything illegible to appear on a piece...and not only are the letters quite indistinct, but there appear to be additional letters/code symbols there that are almost completely obscured. The fabrication of these sorts of faint markings usually indicates that a piece is a copy, or perhaps a copy of a copy, though the obverse as well as the foundry mark on the reverse are fine. Just not sure...?

I believe Wim Saris has been working on a Railway Eagle book with JR--perhaps one or the other might provide an opinion.
