The tab has some age, and Standarte 17 match with both Westmark as Niedersachsen, but that chainstich doesn't satify me. I don't know for sure, and because of that I'd pass on it. -
Not a tab I would want in my collection.

Sturmbann III, Standarte (whatever # it was). Let's see more CLOSEUP pics of the unit tab, rank tab, and the shoulderboard. And closeups of the collar piping where it's attached. I'm not crazy about the chain-stitching either, but it'd be prudent to see better and more photos before proclaiming it not good. Tabs were usually hand-stitched to jacket, but not always. Any sleeve stripes on the jacket? More pics please!!Comment

IMO, it's premature to pronounce the tab fake for sure. Other than appearing to be machine-sewn to the shirt, I don't see anything wrong with it. The wool looks period, and the chain-stitching looks a little loose. I'd want to see much more of the shirt before saying it's fake. DISCLAIMER: I'm not arguing that the tab is original to the shirt, just that it could be ok.Comment

I cannot make my mind up either way, im rather on the negative with Laurens, the stitching just appears too loose, some loose stitching over the years seems ok but i wouldnt expect the whole tab lettering to be loose, the shirt on Weitze site appears mint and un used but the tab is aged, who knows, here are some hand stitched to compareComment
