Supporters pin?

Any ideas what this pin was used for?
Looks kind of naval in design, enamel center, brass edges?
No knurling to the pin, does that kill it right away?

Thanks Jim and Wim, so i guess no knurling to the pin is not the kiss of death all the time huh?
To me anyway, kind of a Naval look, anything to do with the Kriegsmarine?
Or just a supporters pin, for the lapel?
