    SA buckle/belt

Just ordered from Butschek. Trying to complete my SA Kurpfalz attributed brown shirt. From the photos, this one seems in nice shape to include the leather. Now I need the cross strap/loops.

Nice example, Loggie! I particularly like the buckles with two-piece construction featuring the silver-colored center. Like most, I assume this one is unmarked as to manufacturer...I do wish more had been marked.

      Buckle

I've seen and handled many SA buckles over the years, but I've never seen cylindrical pin ends on the top and bottom. These pin ends are always domed, like a mushroom, NOT cylindrical. The pin itseld, an it's prongs look poorly made. Not saying it's fake - just not normal, IMO.

I noticed as well that the pin ends are clean. I posted on the buckle forum, maybe there will be some more opinions.

Found this on Germania dealer site. Close match but acknowledge that does not make it right. Dealer attributes to 1933 Assmann based on advertisement from an old reference book.

In my opinion, a perfectly original SA buckle, albeit with a very odd one piece pin and claw arrangement - which has now been well documented.

There are now recorded numerous by organisation buckles similarly so, by the quite distinct obverse configuration.

Attached are images of a Stahlhelmbund buckle which I think belongs to the same eccentric and odd "family".

            Regards,

            David
