Last one could be OK- I would say the first two are fakes...

He was a researcher looking for information when he contacted me last week. I already told him those first 2 were fake.

Interesting, I have a NY/NJ phone number for him....Shreyas is his name IIRC another scammer? has 7 daggers and bayonets to sell as well. He seemed legit to me too.

These armbands were shown in a thread on another Forum last week. The owner was told they were all fake. Seems as though he is now trying to move them in to an unsuspecting.

Thanks Bob, I really do get tired of all the gameplaying and chicanery in this hobby. Reminds me of an old song lyric from the 80's " There's lots of seedy characters and lots of dirty deals, every names an alias in case somebody squeals, its the lure of easy money- it's got a very strong appeal" perfect for our hobby.

Well, he got caught in his own lies. Posted this morning on the other thread proclaiming his innocence and stating it was someone who stole his pictures. Only problem is his email address is shreyas, the same as the name he gave you. He was banned from the other Forum. A small victory in the constant battle against scammers and thieves.

I just recieved an irate email from him, could it be possible that he really is a newbie collector who really does not know what he is doing? I hate to tar and feather the fellow if he is sincere. oh well, I guess that is that.

The guy gave you the name shreyas. His listed email at warrelicseu starts with shreyas. What do you think? That is typical behavior from a scammer when he gets caught. Blame the innocent party for his larcenous ways.
He supplied the tar and feathers and self applied them.
How did he find you to make the initial offer?

                          Hi Bob,
I just read the other thread over in the forum from which he was ejected, he found my Craigslist ad seeking military items. So the pics were his...and then they weren't? I told him from the start that I wasn't really interested in anything ultra rare anyway but I put them up here to see if they had a chance. I will move on then, shame it came to this.

Moving slightly onto the armbands, I have some SA funeral photos, the SA men appear to have a piece of black material covering the armband rather then actually stitched to the band like this, the norm? or was there a standard uniformity for funeral armbands? Sean

I have seen photos with a black piece of cloth over the armband but not sewn onto it....I've never seen an original armband sewn with black over it like these. I am always wary whenever anyone offers me rare items that are worth a fortune...so far all the super rare stuff I have been offered either later proved to be common after all or fantasy pieces.
