    HJ Potsdam 1932 authentic?

I'm not familiar enough with these to make a determination. Is this an authentic period example?

I do not think HA ever made these badges.... I say it is a repro.

Not sure that I agree with that statement (that HA didn't make these badges) be I may be proved wrong.

I have a silver by Ferdinand Hoffstätter and when comparing the quality of the one shown here it looks rather poor compared to mine? Yet the setup of the needle and pinplate try to look like a Hoffstätter? I tend to think this one is a copy as well trying to look like a Hoffstätter...

Also im with Stan and think Hermann Aurich made these awards as well, if i remember correctly it had a round pinplate on the reverse, looking much different than this one.

Can't acces my books at the moment, maybe someone else can?

          regards,
          Gaston

I just remembered that my Hoffstaetter badge has the letter "H" on the lower obverse side. Not too sure if this is the mark of the designer or maker.

Hi Stan, that is one hell of a quality award

Is this a solid silver badge perhaps? It looks amazing.

Mine has the "H" too, but barely visable, it is however there, but nowhere as sharp as on yours. I took a quick peek at Weitze as he has several Potsdam badges for sale. Most made by Hoffstätter seem to have the "H" too, though not all? Not sure if FHB always used it?

              best regards,
              Gaston

                Hello,
Here is my Hermann Aurich badge I've had for quite a few years now. It has the same type of pin plate as shown by Rheinmetall's but the front of mine is much more silver colored than his I think. Stan, your badge really does look quite nice from what can be seen. It looks quite crisp and in beautiful condition.

                            Potsdam badge

Just a thought on the potsdam badge, the first issue in silver was for those who took part, and for spectators the bronze, could it be that the first issue in silver was by the maker ha,and that the bronze hoffstatter was for sale,as i understand 2 years later the bronze award was forbidden to be worn, and only the silver was permitted to be worn,so was this when ha made the silver potsdam badge,as i have not seen a bronze ha potsdam badge.yet we see both silver ha & hoffstatter badges.just a thought.

There are some in-depth threads over on the HJ forum which will be very useful to those interested in the Potsdam badge.
