Bolt of cloth printed with HJ armbands

I posted this in another thread along with some flags and banners from a recent pick ( http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru....php?p=4915251 ) but after figuring out what this is, I felt it deserved its own thread It was brought home by a US vet and has been stored away until this week.

It is a piece of printed fabric that was apparently used to make HJ armbands. Now most HJ armbands I see online are two-piece, but i wonder if later used printed fabric to save production costs? Each section is about 15 inches long and 4.5 inches wide.

The pieces would have been cut from the fabric and hemmed on all four sides.

There is evidence that printed armbands were used by the HJ during its final years, ive seen a couple of photos with such armbands in use, but this is the first time ive seen anything like this. If as you say its a vet bringback then im shocked and suprised, i should think there will be a lot of interest here from the HJ community. Is this the evidence people have been waiting for. I myself have never added the printed ones to my collection as ive never been that happy with the ones ive seen . Good luck with your find. Pete.

This guy brought back some nice stuff (this fabric was in a box with Org Todt and Luftschutz side caps, leather belt with Gott Mit Uns buckle and ammo pouches, SS collar tab, Coppel knife/bayonet with cosmoline-type preservative still on the blade, etc).

Here's some closeups including one of the back showing how the ink bleeds through. I would imagine this image would be a very good example to use for comparing printed HJ armbands.

There's enough to make almost 40 armbands! What would you call it if in 2011 you made HJ armbands from WWII printed fabric? Would that be a hybrid?

            LOL uhhh I guess?
Are you planning to cut it up? If so I wouldn't go sewing on them and leave them just cut out.

I had a similair sheet of volkssturm armbands once.

Looks great.. but same rule for me as for the other printed insigna. I would'nt buy they because they a soooo easy to fake.
What will be good ones and wich one fakes, if it is all so easy to fake.

                Great, but not for me.

Believe to be period based upon acquisition, this one was fabricated using a second backing........

For references purposes here's a closeup of the weave in the bolt of fabric. It's a lightweight cloth, almost like a muslin with a rough weave, and I can see why they would have put a backing on it. I would say that if you cannot easily see the weave and it's a very smooth fabric, that is for sure a red flag.
