It has been proven that the Blood Order was not given to the families of the fallen. A possible award given to them was the 25LS award which to me makes it very special.

Hi Erich,
That is interesting. Some time ago I seem to recall Weitze had a Blood Order which was stated to be attributable to Karl Kuhn if my memory serves me right. That would be around late 2004 . I remember it being offered at 6500Euro. Perhaps someone can shed some light on this if as you state the BO was not issued to families of the fallen. I remember looking at the award for some weeks and confess to being tempted by it before finally purchasing my No 85 in April 2005. Could be a lucky escape for me!!

Member Jeffh has found period documation showing that the BO was never awarded in the case of death. I have seen mini versions of the BO with a martyrs name engraved on the reverse which I feel was period. It was also thought that the 25 yr LS award was the perfect award to be given to families of the fallen. By the way, there is no proof that Heydrich ever received the BO. Just take a look at his Funeral pillow. A German Order but no BO.

Thanks Erich, that`s very interesting. I wonder what happened to that BO which was allegedly Kuhns award. I remember having a discussion about it with a member of a different forum. It must be out there somewhere Perhaps Jon can remember it being offered for sale
