I picked this up recently and would like to learn more about it. I collect mostly Wehrmacht material and have never had an item like this. It is a fairly lightweight shirt, I assume for summer use. There are size stamps in the neck area along with a woven tag indicating it was colored with colorfast dyes. The buttons are "HJ DJ" marked and are removable, attached with chromed metal rings. The cuff buttons are missing, would they have been the same type of buttons? The "Nord Hamburg" district triangle is neatly hand sewn, there is no evidence of any other insignia, except at the shoulders, where there are stitching traces showing shoulder boards were once attached. Is there any reason shoulder boards would have been removed during the war, perhaps for wear under a tunic? Or have the shoulder boards more likely been removed after 1945? I am wondering what the purpose of this shirt was and also what would be a realistic value. I paid $40 for it.

From the photos shown it looks like the shirt might have had "sew on" type HJ straps attached at some point. The straps were normally not removed for wear under the Winterbluse, but like SA, were sometimes removed for laundering. If you only paid 40 USD for it you got a great price. The triangle alone is worth at minimum 80 USD. If you decide to add a set of straps, find a pair from a Bann number that matches the triangle.Comment

The shirt shown could have had an RZM tag affixed like the one in this photo. The 1935 pattern Kopperbluse had an RZM tag sewn into the waistband, and was not a pullover style, and had the belt loops and ramps.Comment
