I picked this cast iron political desk or wall eagle up yesterday, it was inexpensive so I took a chance. I believe it to be an original based on my studies of this widely reproduced item, but I wanted to post it here for opinions. It has a semi-hollow reverse, a slightly vaulted shape with swept-back wings, attachments on the back for the desk mount, and good detail. Please ignore the fresh orange rust, I usually consider new rust a red flag but in this case I believe it is due to recent improper storage. Any comments or opinions on the originality of this piece would be appreciated.

Last picture for now, showing the difference between this eagle (on left) and an old flat-backed reproduction of the same type, that I have had for some years. The difference in quality and detail is obvious. I am pleased with this find but am open to any opinions. Thanks in advance for any comments.Comment

Nice eagle and I concur a good one and it is a desk eagle. I just picked one up in a recent find and mine has all the silver finish and stand on it still. It is identical to yours. I was pondering what these sell for. Beat...JeffComment
