Hi,

Black is the correct colour for the Gebietsführer lanyard and yes, it would be rare but a check against the manufacturing instructions show that the item here is too short.

All of the lanyards with the exception of the Kameradschaftsführer (and equivalent rank in the DJ, BDM and JM) lanyard and the Bannstab Stellenleiter lanyard had the same length. The Gebietsführer lanyard is not specifically described in the manufacturing regulation but the others are and in all period illustrations I have here all lanyards had the same length (less the exceptions already noted).

Even if you consider that it might have shrunk through washing it's still too short. With that in mind and also the fact that this item would be relatively easy to make today I think care is advised here.
