Order of the German Eagle Medal of Merit - Silver GOOD?

    Hello All,

I have had this one in my collection and want to vet it among the community. It is maker marked on the ring, but, I cannot decipher it - it does not appear to be the '30' that I have seen associated with this medal.

The medal looks to be a silvered tombak and weighs 22.5g. The approximate diameter is 37.8mm.

    All opinions welcome.

    Thanks,

    Eric

The medal is a FAKE. Sorry

Images of one of my medals so that it compares:

it observes the eagles and the font. Also it must have the marking in the profile of the medal "(835 PR. MÜNZENT BERLIN, as it corresponds to the medal in 1937 silver, with gothic legend.

I agree and it appears the stamp on the ring may be a partial 'L/58' which was used for a number of postwar years by Souval.

Erich, I don't contest the perception that this medal is post-war made, but IMHO we should be careful to dismiss all L/58 marked pieces as fakes.

          cheers

            L58

agreed- fake- different size and uneven letters on the reverse. Especially like the swazi in lower right- looks like they run out of room to accomodate for its arms.
Good ole' Rudolf sure provided us with some excitement, didn't he..
            cheers

True--for a long time, collectors rejected all L/58 and R.S. marked pieces as fakes--it took a while before the fakes and the pre45 pieces could be discerned.

Thank you all for the comments.

Marisca - very nice medal and I clearly see the differences. Thanks.

                Regards,

                Eric
