Sorry to contradict our new colleague, fliepke, but this piece certainly does look like it just walked out of the films and photos of one of the annual Day of German Art parades, at least to me. It has that same look of a stage prop or costume piece that was designed to give a NS veneer to all periods in history, and it reminds me of the mosaic ceilings inside the porticoes on the Haus der Deutschen Kunst and elsewhere. The feeling is of the Neo-classical period, which permeated TR architecture and much else. Hope these thoughts are helpful, and thanks for sharing quite an amazing piece, which was also obviously so quickly stamped out, assembled and finished with gilding that the jewelry solder used to attach the false 'precious stones' has shown through. What a unique piece!

When I saw it, my first thought was "day of German art" parade as well. It is possible it could be an item for some other culture who uses the swaz but Im still leaning towards the first. There are some photos out there of the parade, maybe you might get lucky and find one with this particular piece in it.
