    Nuremberg eagle for sale anywhere?

I have been looking for a nice original Nuremberg Desk eagle for some time does anyone have one for sale or know if there is anyone sold at any dealers?

I saw a damaged Nuremberg eagle being sold on the estand at 800€ is this realy the price these are fetching nowadays or was it just a lucky seller?

In my mind these should be fetching between 350-550€ without any damage am I totally lost here?

    Thanks

    Hi Berra,

I don't think there is such a thing as a 'generic desk eagle' -- I have seen many different sizes, finishes and mountings over many years in this hobby. My own example, which I bought over ten years ago, cost me $2,000. Now, it's beautifully gilt-fired, fully double-sided as to detail, and is mounted on a red marble pedestal with three gilt columns and in excellent condition...so I hope you get my point. Happy hunting,

    Br. James

Yes price is always hard to get but these seems to be fairly common even if I cant find any at the moment :-)

Would love to see the one you have if you want to share?

Any info on these eagles are welcome, what is the correct finishes sizes maker marks?

May I ask how much you paid? And where did you get it EU or US?

            Thank you

              Berra,

The piece that Seb has, has a marking on the reverse with HB.
The piece sold you Udo, is a nice one but unmarked.
Several variants exist, including different styles, some with a bigger body etc.

Two types of finish exist - in drab gold gilt and silvered.
They may come in as a desk piece or mounted as a trophy.

500-600eur should be the market rate, unless it has been specially attributed.

you will not find an eagle like this one for 600 Euro, I believe. This pattern is very decorative and hard to find.

I agree its a very nice eagle. Its not to often I see them for sale.

But these tends to be more expencive in Europe compared to the US but at 800€ I have never seen them.

I never saw that pattern for less then 800 Euro. And I cant believe, a collector will let one go for that money.

I paid US$750 or 520eur for the same type of eagle.
It was sold on the e-stand in March, so they do come by.

For anyone interested, the latest catalog from Ray Zyla's Mohawk Arms has just been released concerning his next auction on June 3-4 and he's offering a desk version of the Hoheitsadler on a tall stand; the overall piece is 16 5/8" high. The photo is not clear and Ray has included an apology for inferior photos in this edition, and perhaps one could ask him for an electronic photo or two. The opening bid is listed at $1,200.00. Hope this is helpful info.
