    Pics of my "find"

Any comments on this stuff is greatly appreciated. This came to me from the family of a U.S. vet that was in Germany at the end of the war, and following in the occupation.

I'll post five or six items.

    Thanks guys!
    Bob

What is this? It looks like a poker chip with a hole drilled in it.

I have seen these before. Its supposed to be a poker chip, but Im not sure if these were made up or what.

The SA armband is original. The Kriegsmarine eagle is also original but is post-war sewn to a backing of some kind. The poker chip is American and pre-dates the Third Reich, in the early 20th century the swastika was a popular good luck symbol. Someone has drilled a hole in it as you can see. I am suspicious of some of the medals. The KVKs seem to have lost all their finish and then enhanced with some black paint (?), are they made of lead?

Agree, However I also had poker chips comming out of Germany.
These are a bit more plastic like and have the Swastika turning to the right (the n.s. way) on both sides, while the ones I had out of the US turned left on the backside...this is why I'm a believer that Germany used quite similair chips...

Agreed. I don't like the KVKs and they will be deposited in the scrap drawer. I have several good ones already anyway. The Coastal badge and PAB have been verified as good.

Thanks guys for the info on the chip!

Anyone care to comment on the LW eagle?

                        Unmarked eagle

This has been heavily used. The pin is bent and the hinge is very worn. Any thoughts? The bird has nice detail.

                        Thanks!

The DW armbands look shoddy and good to me. I do think the lettering is a bit thicker than what I have usually seen but I have owned many of these over the years and have always noticed slight subtle differences. Probably due to the quickness these were ran off during production.

Thanks everyone. This has been a case study in vet acquisitions. The lot is about 50% repro/fake. The good items have proven to be legit, the PAB, Coastal Arty Badge, BWB and LW Summer Eagle make this a very good score.

This was my first vet acquisition, and I have several others in the pipeline that will hopefully materialize in the near future.

                              This is so much fun.
