Hello:
I picked up this TR era stein yesterday, and would appreciate any thoughts on it. The maker mark on the bottom is "A A", and the hallmark on the lid is Wiedamann. Lid is engraved with dedication:
Seinem treuen Mitglied
Josef Muller
z. Abschied u. z. Andenken
a. s. Hochzeitstag!
Der kath. Burschenverein
Freinhausen
22.3.34
Einig u. Treu!
If anyone knows the significance of the green/white/red shield, I would be interested.
The oak leaf wreath I have seen on many miltary steins, but I believe this stein is to commemorate a marriage.
Any opinions on the value would be greatly appreciated also. (There is a vertical hairline crack that starts at the top and runs down the right side of the handle almost to the bottom (visible inside only about 1/3 of the way down), but that is the only condition issue.)
Best regards,
Kent G.
