    SA Brass knuckles- Legitimate item?????

Hmmm, I'm very sceptical. They do had some things to protect them during fights. In Horst Wessel's biografie there was a head protector mentioned. This was a gummi like item that SA men could wear under their kepie's. The reason of this "invention" was that an SA man could fight more freely when he knew that a blow to his head was less dangerously.

It is a proven fact that they fought like hell back then, especially in Berlin, but finding items related to that time of struggle is something different or rahter impossible...

Well - it's a naval cap eagle. Maybe for hand to hand fighting on the Graf Spee

        Pure fantasy.

          Brass knuckles

Stranger things have happened, but picture this - It's 1933 and you're arming up for the local beer-hall confrontation with the Red Front or another similar obnoxious organization, and you grab whatever's available. Embellishment on a pistol, perhaps. But someone who uses brass knuckles only really cared about the insignia left on their opponent's head, so highly unlikely. If Herr Goring owned a pair of brass knuckles, they might look similar, but I think he would have proferred the pistole.

Fantasy piece but the basic design is legitimate and based on "The Boxer" style of knuckles or "Schlagringe," as used by the German police.

The first thing that caught my eye was the eagle and swastika, the use of the design of which did not come forward until 1934 or so. If Stradale meant to say that these knuckles were used in the early 1920s, and all else being equal, the eagle/swas design would have been the traditional stylized bird seen on the headline of the Völkischer Beobachter and similar publications, which was obviously quite different.

                    Brass Knuckles

Very good point about the eagle style. What many are forgetting - Any REAL man loves militaria insignia and weaponry. That's why even THEY fall for these kind of fantasy pieces. This is what men like. BUT !!! - Place yourself in the actual period. You're a storm trooper with your SA uniform, Party brassard & acoutrements, boots, SA dagger, + the everyday Partei or SA marked canteens, bugles, backpacks, on and on. Why do the brass knuckles have to be marked, other than the manufacturer? "Hey!! - the reds are storming the beerhall - Get 'em, boys!!" "Wait - here's a lead pipe - Nope!! Not official!!
