    SA kepi Nordmark

I've been interested in getting a good, unmessed SA kepi for a long time now. I've seen that Grenadier's site has several to offer and I was interested in Nordmark one in particular. I know it is in a pretty bad shape, but is there anything else particularly worrisome about it (no grommets?). Link:

What do you guys think, including the price? I've found overwhelmingly positive comments on the owner's reputation and this does carry a lot of weight on final decision, as far as I am concerned.

Thank you in advance for any help,
    V.I.D.

WOW, not an SA guy, but it certainly looks a "been there".
      I'm curious to hear others.

        Kepi

I like the cap, but I'm not COMPLETELY sure about the lining, but maybe it's just really early. The fact that the green wool panel looks like it ISN'T sewed to the cap suggests a very early cap that originally didn't have a colored panel (totally acceptable). Look to see if the gold button is held on with a clip - or is it a 2 flat-prong "spreader" button? Both were used, but IMO, a "spreader" button is more likely to be original to the cap, as they were intended for that purpose, and are far more scarce. Everything about the cap looks A-OK - except I'm not sure about the lining. Hard to find a nice early SA kepi with the original early eagle and no extra holes (assuming it doesn't have any.)

          Kepi

The more I look at that kepi, the more I like it. PM Erich B. or Laurens or Wewelsburg and if they like lining, I'd buy it - It's a very good price.

I think it's fine--early caps often had a very thin fabric lining and it's usually slightly loose fitting as this one is. The price is not unreasonable, and it's actually a harder to find kepi than the later types.
