Yes, I agree that it's a fake, though it would be quite nice if this number were to be a genuine GPB, given it's origin!

Yet another reason for this badge's fraudulent nature is the number of oak leaves it bears. You mentioned that the diameter measurement of this badge is 24mm which could only represent a small Deschler GPB -- but the small Deschler design included only eight oak leaves per side, while the large Deschler badge (30.5mm) had nine leaves in its design.

Wim, the Austrian Fuess fakes are actually better than this older fake IMO.

The "Austrian fake" usually refers to the Fuess style badge. This looks like it is trying to be a small Deschler.
