If one needed more reason to disbelieve these numbers then one should ask why then for one single Sonderzug wagon are there SO MANY numbered knives forks etc.. being offered for sale all bearing the mythical Führerwagon legend.....?

I've heard of 'how many people fit into a V.W. ...well exactly how many guests can you squeeze into the dining car of the Sonderzug to match the amount of cutlery 'made for it ? '

I have yet to see any evidence beyond conjecture and stories. What proof has been presented? No documentation, no photos of rings in use, no rings found with well known larger sets of silverware taken by GIs.

Hitler's special train had two dining cars at all times. Car 10242 (Hiter's VIP car) served 15 people and car 10244 served 42 staff. The 242 pieces are much more difficult to acquire. Goering had two trains fully staffed.

40 years of collecting..........I have probably seen 8 to 10 "242" pieces for sale and less than 20 "244" pieces offered. These items are much rarer than the formal and informal service patterns given to Hitler on his 50th birthday. Hundreds of those pieces have been sold. The train silver is rarely offered in any quantity, especially the "242" material.

While after a few weeks of watching this thread, I decided not to buy them.
What about the pieces that started all this personal bickering, it is almost comical to read, but what about the original post "925" markings.

I am closing this thread and doing some minor editing. There has not been any substantive information added recently and it shows signs of an impending descent into entropy.
If legitimate documentation becomes available in the future, a new thread should be started.
