Long Service medal opinion

Greeting all,

I have a Long Service medal, that I bought from a dealer in California, and would like an opinion on it authenticity. One thing I am confused on is how you can tell the length of service medal. The pictures do not show it but it is gold in color.

Genuine civil service LS medal.

Silver = 25 years
Gold = 40 years
Silver with gold highlights = 50 years
