I don't know about the tag but the armband is not an early SA armband, it is a standard Party armband for an outer coat, Sean

I've picked these up in veteran lots with either the paper or woven label. They're referred to as SS overcoat armbands, but why they were produced differently than the standard edged SS armbands has always been a mystery.

There are MANY discussions here on WHY and what these really are,do a search and see all teh opinions, but NO one seems to agree, all speculation.it is Definately a good one.But what are they for?JUST A FEW opinions below.:
              1.Overcoat kampfbinde for SS?or SA?
              2.Unfinished examples?
3.Ran out of SA paper tags at factory?{note they have been found made by different factorys so not a very good implicationBUT alot have same factory number stamps in the usual purple stamp of SS..
              FACTS
              1. ALWAYS found with paper tags, and NEVER cloth tags,so they must have been made after 37/38 when the cloth tags were obsolete.
2.ALWAYS in wool so definately for Overcoats or possibly tunics.
3.ALWAYS seem to be the wider Overcoat length/width

I had one from a small veteran grouping (the group was small--not the vet) with a 1934 or 35 (?) dated cloth tag. I've seen at least 2 with cloth labels but the majority found are the paper tag variety.
I think it unlikely that they are unfinished examples, as the edges of an SS band are hemmed differently than those of a standard party armband.
