SA General's sleeve eagle

    I've seen an eagle like this one at least once before--it was on an Afrika Korps movie costume tunic which was set up as a General's tunic. The wool basecloth of the eagle was a reddish brown or brownish red.

          The eagles I do see here in this thread do not have the workmanship from German manufacturing standards.

          I do not know if the backing actually could be crimson for Oberste SA-Führung.
          I am aware of one upon a field-grey backing as this is described in a letter from the Oberste SA-Führung from November 9, 1939
          about the wearing of the field-grey uniform by SA (G 3 FO 2b Nr. 13 704 K/Hi).
          Section 8 mentions this eagle to be worn in aluminum embroidery, to be worn upon the middle of the left upper arm.
          This kind of uniform was worn at the so-called Operationsgebiet.

          If there was a differnt eagle for those allowed to wear the uniform at the Führerhauptquartier I do not know, but Brückner was one of them.
          He was a person that could have worn crimson.

            This photo and caption was included in volume 3 of the series "Headgear of Hitler's Germany", published in 1998.
            It is known the photo was taken during a visit at the buildings of the "Westwall" in about May 1939. At that moment
            Brückner was the only person to wear this uniform. It is obvious Brückner then already did wear a deviating uniform
            with arm eagle and the cap which later was worn with the field-grey uniform.

              SA Sleeve Eagle

              I know there are a few pic's of Bruckner where the "grey" uniform. I find it interesting that he was insistent on wearing a grey uniform. I can see if touring a "occupied" territory, as to blend in with the military, but at Hitlers HQ, I don't get it. However strange it is, I find it very unique and would love to get my hands on even a repo sleeve eagle of that type ...

                Occupied country? The Westwall, by the Allies known as Siegfried-line, was in Germany and run from the city of Kleve to the Swiss Border.
                As often new planned uniforms were worn before the actual introduction. This surely will have been with Brückner.

                It is obvious you are not aware of the orders about the field-grey uniform and where it was to be worn!

                  It is even better: it was planned this uniform was used at the Operationsgebiet and the Führerhauptquartier, but for the first it was cancelled and just at Hitler's headquarters it was allowed.
