These new items are just the icing on the cake. A very important historical collection. I'll bet the guy would not have believed that people some 70+ years later would be looking at his BO and snap shots. Wonderful.

May I show some more photos, postcards and other documents of this group I have already found.

I am thinking of trading or selling this group. Finally I think that I will sell because it is more easier to handle. To find the right value for such a unique group is almost impossible. So please, can you help me by sending me your idea of the value on my private box or mail address. That would be very kind of you. So I can get a feeling for the market value and be able to offer with a correct price in the E-Stand.

          Thanks a lot!

With such a HUGE archive -- and a FANTASTIC one, too -- it seems odd that there is one piece missing: the Golden Party Badge! This man was involved with the Party from at least 1923, but no GPB?

Many thanks for sharing this with us,

                Br. James

Fantastic Estate of an Alter Kämpfer Isonzo! As you said in one of your original posts, the finish on the Blood Order is amazing and there is indeed an aura to the whole group. Br. James, as to the blood order sans the golden party badge, one example of this seemingly odd combination is found with Staatssekretär and SS-Gruppenführer Franz Hayler. Although a participant in the 1923 Munich Putsch, Hayler was originally a member of the Bund Oberland (Freikorp) and not of the NSDAP. Als BlutOrdenträger, he had the right to wear the Blood Order ribbon, however, as a late joining party member (# 754,133 in 1931), no right to Gold.

That doesn't seem to be the case for Isonzo's Old Fighter. Perhaps his membership lapsed....FX Schwarz was a true "dues na-zi" if ever there was one and he would cut members off after only a few months of non-payment. This happened to a lot of early NSDAP members....most likely the payment of the dues simply lapsed and thusly a later membership number was received upon re-application.

Thanks, Bob, and it may well be that this person permitted his dues to lapse back in the 1920s, but that apparently didn't stop him from becoming a Political Leader and rising through the ranks of leadership -- in note #7 we see him with presumably his staff colleagues and, though we can't tell whether these men are on the Orts or the Kreis level of organization, our main man appears to be the senior official there, according to the collar tabs. And this photo is certainly from the early 1930s, perhaps just before or just after 30.1.33.

While I respect Isonzo's wish to keep the family name secure, if we knew that name we would at least be able to find out whether our man was a recipient of the AH Honorary GPB...

                        Still, a fabulous archive!

Guys, I have many cases in my collection of the blood order awarded without the trager qualifying for the GPB due to a high NSDAP number. In fact it's still very hard to find the blutorden / GPB combo, put the coburg in to that mix and to find the trio is extremely difficult.

I just acquired a blutorden who's owner was a member pre the putsch with a membership around 5000, however he didn't re join for whatever reason till 31, with a number over 200,000. His previous early number counted for nothing in terms of the GPB. However to me it's just as important, more so, that he was an early pre putsch member when to be a member of the party was truelly a challenge that had associated risks. These were the original alter kampfer .

The group presented by my friend here is of course fantastic material.

I agree, Jon. After the Putsch ban on the NSDAP was lifted, many of those who had belonged to the DAP/NSDAP prior to the Putsch joined the SA, and many of those don't seem to have been aware that, while the SA was an organization of the NSDAP, membership in the SA did not mean that that person was also a member of the Party. Both the SA and the NSDAP had separate membership structures, and they also had separate dues systems. As many of the SA members in the mid-1920s were young and often either unemployed or under-employed, the possibility of paying two separate dues amounts per month was apparently not possible for many, and it wasn't until the early 1930s that people began to realize that, even though a man may have held fairly high rank in the SA or other organization of the NSDAP, if he wasn't also a member of the Party itself he had no standing in that organization. This was played out with the advent of the Golden Party Badge in 1933, when people who had been long-standing members of the SA or the SS or the NSKK, or had been leaders in other organizations such as the RAD, had missed their opportunity to be eligible for the GPB -- eligibility for which had closed in late 1928/very early 1929 when the 100,000th Party Member had been enrolled.

A look at the SS-DALs reveals that some high-ranking officers either chose not to join the NSDAP at all or did so so late that they wound up with comparatively high membership numbers.

First may I thank you all very much for taking time for the replies and respecting that I secure the family name.

There are very interested aspects of the constellations of being a GPB holder or not. For sure this recipient was not a holder of this award.

In my case I am researching the BO thematic for a very long time. I always asked to my self in which way the large 1st pattern certification was given to the recipients. I have never heard about a map or like that. It is quite impossible to believe that this "highest party document" was not safety awarded.

My certification is framed as you can see. Interested is that all the few examples I have seen show on the backside a litte line around - like the marks of a tape. Also interested is that the backside of the frame shows a number. For sure this number can be everything but it seems to be like a "series number". At last you can find at the upper finish of the document that the print does not go to the end. This fact I could find also at the other examples. So normally the producer would make a new one after controlling. Or was this point not important because of knowing that the document will be framed?

So may I ask you if it could be possible that these documents or some of them have been presented with a (or this) frame?

                              Very best Regards!

                              isonzo

P.S. May I show a better photo from the backside, because the one at the beginning looks like polished.
