SA kepi Niedersachsen good or fake?

    Hi,

I'm purchase recently this SA Kepi to a well know dealer in Germany. I'm not a expert. Please, who do you think about it.

    Thanks in advance,

    Theo.

Thanks Pascal and Mseagle. I had some doubts about the originality of the Kepi.

I believe I had seen this one on the dealer's site, and the price was not out of line, either.

I could be wrong (who couldn't?) but as I understand it, the metal devices on SA kepis should agree in color -- for example, a silver eagle/swaz together with a silver button below it. Same with gold-colored device sets. The photos you provide appear to show a silver eagle/swaz with a gold button, which would seem to indicate that at least one of the devices was improperly replaced on this example.

              Hope this is helpful.

Only the Marine SA wore a gold eagle on their headgear--no matter the button color, on kepis the eagles were silver. The Stabshef was given permission to wear a gold eagle in the late 30s or early 40s (I don't have my references handy) but if you see a gold eagle on a kepi, it's incorrect.
This one is exactly as it should be.

Thanks for the information, Erich -- I always appreciate being taught something I hadn't known before.

                  Cheers,

Sincerelly thanks to everyone for your opinions. I remain calm and pleased about the originality of my Kepi,
