Fuess Gold Party Badge on Weitze's Site

Helmut has posted a Fuess GPB on his website as a recent aquisition, under #150409. The obverse is identical to the so-called "Austrian fakes" where the "H" and "I" have a full extended letter to the bottom, as opposed to the originals that are spindily at the bottom. The reverse has the proper maker mark, with the letter "C" in Munchen, the proper size and the mark is slightly off center as it should be. The Party numbers are not repetitive as in the Austrian repros.

How is this possible? A reproduction obverse with an original reverse? Am I mistaken guys? Any comments?

Someone had mentioned this badge to me the other day, you are not the only one that's got questions.

The badge is wrong both front and back. This is one of the Austrian fakes and I'm sure there are many of these floating around in a lot of collections.

I forgot to add that a lot of, for the most part reputable dealers have been fooled by these badges.

          Hello,

in my opinion it is a/the "complete" austrian fake of the 80th. Obverse and reverse are in normal appearance of the common fake.

          Best Regards

That's a fake - front and back. Not sure why you're seeing a good back Matovsky. The "C" is too tall, it is more centred than off-centre and the numbers have the puffiness around them from a strike rather than impression. Completely bad.

Has anyone e-mailed Helmut Weitze to let him know? I'm sure he would welcome the information.

Surely you joke! He has been seeding his sight with more and more fakes, and will be terribly disappointed that this fake did not sell before it was outed.
                best wishes,

I can only agree, too much cr4p turning up on Weitzes site lately...
Another Mickey Mouse Fake, available through Regalia-specialist or Epic for £5,99.- but Weitze has it down as Original for a whopping €100.-

                      https://www.weitze.net/detail/93/Nat...n__147993.html

That is just one, there are many more, which is sad. It looks like Weitze is going down the same road as BECK MILITARIA and all the other Big Boys.

But the Uniform with switched Insignia goes beyond a "Try and catch a customer who knows nothing" trick... if true, it is Fraud for the purpose of Profit, and should not be accepted in our hobby. (Remember Empire and a member who was Booted out? or left?? and the Ailsby dagger fraud story?

It will get swept under the carpet i bet, and i doubt if it is the first time this happened either....

So what about all these small badges that are up at Weitzes as Original, but even a beginner can see it is fakes?? this tells us Two things only:

                      • They are fishing for Green Horns who trust their name
                      • They have made a simple mistake, and Themselves have NO IDEA about what is Original or not !!

IMHO it is a mix from point 1 and 2 and Reflects the situation in our Hobby today, and of course the Forums, Forum posters and Reputations.....
The Bigger the Wig, the easier it is to automatically trust all the words that come outta their mouths without even engaging brain or doing your own research.

It will be interesting to see what happens to this thread and how it is followed up, i remember that many posts like this about other dealers like C.Gottlieb etc... or Ailsby...get followed and the people almost hounded outta town, or Lynched... others crying for blood and so on..... so where will this end?
I guess it will be covered up, IF TRUE that is, i see no pictures so cant see if the uniforms in question are indeed the same one with Fraudulently changed insignia....

rest assured it will be forgotten and he will keepp on selling
                        rubbish

collectors such as myself have all but stopped buying
the market will come down soon it's inflated badly now not unlike
the us housing market a few years back

It looks as though Weitze has removed the badge.
