I wonder what kind of proof Ron needs to show to claim the bar as his now that the pics in the opening post is gone.

I think he metioned police report being filed back then. I assume the picture of stolen bar would accompany the report so looks like a no brainer to me.
      Kudos to Tom!
      cheers

            eMedals

The photos I show in this thread are in the police report and I also had some close ups in the report. It was a pain as I had to meet with the police twice (had to go for hours), but in the end it will have been worth it.
eMedals is claiming they bought it at the MAX in 2011 (3 years after the theft), but no records of who was the seller?? States he has marked it sold and will post it back to me. I will let all you know when it arrives.

Well, that's at least a happy ending for Ron. Too bad Barry doesn't have a record of the seller, though I imagine many dealers buy from individuals attending shows without recording from whom they purchased. It is sad that the thief will probably wind up profiting from this but Barry winds up the loser. Perhaps the bar can be fingerprinted, though it would probably have lots of different prints on it.

                  Any good news yet?

                  Hi Ron,

It has been a couple of weeks now and I was wondering if your medal bar is back home?

                  Best regards,
                  Tom

Story is it has been shipped (at my expense) and I will let you know when it arrives. I must trust eJMedals at their word.

The man, Berry Turk, owns eMedals out of Canada. I believe he is a big time dealer in medals and sets up at the shows, MAX included.

Im sorry but when they say it must have been lost in the mail which is my next guess.....

Who is this Barry character? Is he trustworthy.I mean YOU KNOW its your medal, and the story sounds phony.Im guessing Barry stold it himself or his friend did, instead of saying someone sold it to me recently{if it were the truth},NOT years ago, which in a way is a guilty type of reaction,is it not? Displacing the blame.I may be totally off here, but my gut says its fishy and Ive been around alot of fish in my 40 years. If i am right charging you to ship it back on top of it would be the icing on top,a nice honest man would be more than happy to ship it back to you,I mean hes already lost alot more money whats another 10$ for shipping if that! I dont like this Barry guy,and I never even met him!
I'd really be leary of making accusations when, as you admit, you don't know. Barry is a stand up guy. The thief could have stolen it and then sold it 10 minutes later at the show. Cash deals happen at the shows. You have obviously learned very little in your 40 years.

First off why do I have to be "leary" of making accusations,I could care less what Emedals or anyone else thinks for that matter, opinions here come and go,you arent knew to this .Who gives a **** what I say about"Barry"or whatever his name is at emedals LOL.
We will see if he get's it back, then Ill be wrong. But a man who asks for shipping in a case like this to return a stolen medal is a LOSER,and something doesnt sit right with me.I own hundreds of pieces and hundreds more in other collecting areas, and I know if I got something 2 years ago or a month! Please.

What does he gain in asking for shipping 10$? Is he so mad as a BIG TIME DEALER that he lost his stolen medal that he paid xxx amount of dollars for that getting back 10$ satisfies him? either very poor thinking/morals or just a crook. But then again as you said I havent learned much in 40 years. But when the stolen medal is posted here by Ron,I'll apologize for jumping the gun.But I dont think that will happen honestly.

I really really hope I'm wrong,I want to see it returned to Ron just as all you guys do.But gee,you guys must know how stuff like this goes down in TR collecting.More times over, things in situations like this go bad WAY more than turn out good.

BTW even Ron quoted "THE STORY IS"its in the mail, and that emedals "sets up at the Max show included" sounds a bit doubting to me in that use of phrasing .Should he be leary too?

Well, the medal bar arrived back to me today. Well packaged and ALMOST like the day it was stolen except the 15 year cross eagle, wreath and swastika has been lightly cleaned to remove the original tarnish (sorry that had happened).
eMedals did return as promised. What happened exactly, I cannot tell for sure, but am glad its back. Thanks so much to tyanacek for his great assistance in this case and to WA.com for being our safeguard. Ron Weinand
