As many of you will know, the above Thanksgiving event held in Bueckeberg was one of three major annual mass propaganda extravaganzas of the NSDAP, ranking right up there with the Reichs Party Days in Nuernberg and the 1st of May celebrations in Berlin. This one was held five times from 1933 - 1937. The item shown comes from that event.
We have here a small cloth (cotton) type of pennant, measuring approximately 5-1/4 inches x 7 inches (13.5 cm. x 17.5 cm.), in appearance and construction not unlike a party armband, except that this is double-sided. The top has a seam to accommodate a cord from which it might be suspended as a decoration along with hundreds or thousands of others. On one side is printed in black ink, "Erntedankfest" above the swastika and "Bueckeberg" below. The lettering is absent on the other side.
A nice little souvenir....and perhaps timely, given that Thanksgiving is approaching. I hope you enjoy seeing it.
