Desk swastika ? Real or repro ?

I've been looking at this thing. Anyone ever seen one of those before ?
i've newer seen it and am wondering if it's a war time piece or a repro ?

Seller says it's from a guy's house supposedly a danish volunteer in the german army

Looks like a homemade or school made piece. IMO it's just as likely good as not--there is really no way to determine if it's pre or post 45.

It was made to be mounted on the top of a helmet.

No way near an original period item IMO. It has no quality about it.

I agree with the assessment that, short of conducting tests of the paint, there is virtually no way to determine when it was made. Remember - there were many handmade items made during this period. I'm not saying it's period-made - just that it's often very hard or impossible to tell.

I think it is period made, by an amateur machinist with some degree of talent.
As pointed out, no good way to tell for sure, short of seeing the exact item in a period photo.
