Does anyone know the "real" story reagarding the death of Philipp Bouhler? An extensive google search has yielded that he committed suicide with cyanide AFTER being apprehended by American troops, and finally that he was shot by an American GI while in route to his internment at Dachau. Can anyone help?

I have been researching the Reichsleiters for decades and I can tell you that there is absolutely no written documentation as to how and where he died nor any info on what happened to the body in the US Army files. Like so many other top leaders, his death seems to be based on alot of hearsay with nothing to back it up. The same old story has been repeated in countless books that he took cyanide but where that story came from is unknown. No documentation anywhere to prove his death at all. Very strange.
